It all started with a connection forged through family friends, bringing together Ferg from Ann’s Pasties and Tom, the owner of Finisterre. Little did we know, Tom had a mischievous plan up his sleeve.
Tom wanted to inject a bit of fun and perhaps a touch of fear! into his team’s pasty-making experience. He secretly asked our team to be particularly harsh with their criticism, to act like a group of stern, no-nonsense chefs, really putting the Finisterre crew through their paces. And let us tell you, our very own Sandra embraced the role with both hands.
The day began with the Finisterre team, eager and perhaps a little nervous, ready to learn the secrets of a perfect Cornish Pasty. Ferg and the Ann’s Pasties team guided them through each step, from crafting the perfect pastry to mastering the art of the crimp. But as each pasty took shape, the “criticism” began to flow. Sandra, in particular, had a stern look on her face that would send shivers down anyone’s spine! These expressions had all of the Finisterre team looking anxiously at Sandra while they waited to judge their Pasties!
With one frown or cheeky smile from Sandra the teams would know instant failure or success.
By the end of the day, despite the playful harshness, all the Finisterre teams had created their take on a Pasty from beautiful local ingredients. It was a day of flour-dusted fun, unexpected theatricality, and a testament to the power of a good Pasty (and a great sense of humor!) in bringing teams together. We’re still chuckling about it!
Take a look at Finisterre if you haven’t already
