We had the most wonderful day here at Ann’s Pasties recently when the lovely Matt Baker and the BBC Countryfile crew popped in to see us! It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Matt into our kitchen and share the passion that goes into every single one of our pasties.
Making Pasties with Matt Baker
When Matt arrived, the first thing Ferg and Ann were keen to talk about was the ethos of Ann’s Pasties. For us, a pasty is more than just a tasty snack—it’s a connection to the land and our local heritage.
10-Mile Radius: We proudly source all our ingredients, from the steak to the swede, from within a 10-mile radius of our shop. This isn’t just about supporting our incredible local farmers and producers; it’s about ensuring the freshest, truest Cornish flavour.
A Taste of History: As Ann explained to Matt, the ground our vegetables grow in is the same ground our great-great-grandmothers would have worked. The pasty is intrinsically linked to Cornwall’s mining and farming history, and our mission is to keep that genuine, local tradition alive.
Then came the main event! Matt was on a mission to learn how to make our spectacular, limited-edition Special Christmas Pasty.
The Christmas pasty is full of Christmas flavours & all sourced from local producers. Matt couldn’t wait to learn the pasty making ways from Ann & Ferg. He didn’t do too bad of a job on the crimp too!
Under The Christmas Lights In Cadgwith
With a fresh batch of Special Christmas Pasties hot from the oven, we loaded up the van! The final part of the day was heading down to the beautiful fishing village of Cadgwith to share the festive cheer.
We arrived just in time for the village’s eagerly awaited Christmas lights switch-on. There’s nothing like a piping hot pasty on a chilly December evening, and the sight of Matt, Ann, and Ferg handing out our festive creations to the excited crowd as the lights flickered on was a truly magical moment.
It was a wonderful reminder of what we’re all about: community, heritage, and the comfort of a proper, handmade Cornish pasty. A big shout out to The Cadgwith Cove Inn as well, we do love it there!
