Here at Ann’s Pasties, we know a thing or two about quality fuel—the kind that gets you through the hardest workday or the biggest adventure. That’s why we couldn’t be prouder to announce our sponsorship of fellow Cornish powerhouse, Claire Sharp, also known as the C’oar’nish Maid!
In December 2026, Claire is set to embark on the wildest, toughest, and most inspiring adventure of her life: a solo row across the Atlantic Ocean. That’s 3,000 nautical miles of open water, from La Gomera in the Canary Islands all the way to Antigua.
One Woman, One Ocean, One Massive Cause.
This isn’t just a race; it’s a monumental test of endurance, where Claire will row non-stop, in shifts, for 8 to 10 intense weeks. She’ll be battling sleep deprivation, salt sores, and waves as high as 40 feet, all while burning over 6,000 calories a day—that’s the equivalent of running three marathons daily!
As a proud Cornish lass, Claire has always found her place on the water. Now, she’s channeling that incredible strength for a vital cause that is close to her heart: raising funds and awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
Claire’s inspiration is her dear friend and crew mate, Dean Mooney, who bravely fought MND until he sadly passed away in December 2024. MND is a cruel, rapidly progressing disease that attacks the nerves controlling movement, leaving people locked in a failing body. Claire’s goal is monumental—to raise over £100,000 for MNDA to help fund vital research and support those affected.
Claire’s courage and dedication—rowing for Dean and for the thousands fighting MND—is what true Cornish spirit looks like.
We urge all our customers, friends, and fellow lovers of Cornwall to follow Claire’s epic journey, the C’oar’nish Maid Atlantic Challenge
