Today Barry and Sue from Queensland, AU came all the way to The Lizard to try “Ann’s World Famous Pasties” They had read that our pasties were voted among the top ten ,top quality in the world traditional foods.

This week I made it to page 3 of the sun!!! Apparently ‘Twilight’ lovers Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stuart, are planning to ditch their macrobiotic Hollywood meals for an ‘Anns Pasties’ and mingle with The Lizard Lifeboat community.

Recently I was delighted to welcome Alexa, Sereena and Priya to my kitchen. These sisters wrote ‘The Three Sister’s’ INDIAN COOKBOOK. After I gave them a demonstration of traditional pasty -making they each made their own. Together with my grand daughter Meave as my assistant we had a LOT of fun. Our actions and laughter and competition were televised for a,sky network, pilot programme and Maeve and I are really looking forward to seeing it!!!!

Cornish Rowing Challenge

Well done Sea Salt for organising the ‘Cornish Rowing Challenge’ and in splendid weather conditions!!!! This was a spectacular and great fun event to come out of the blue. How fantastic to see G.B. rowers take on Cornwall’s finest female rowers at St. Mawes last evening.Tony and I were lucky enough to hitch a lift by boat with Mark Smith and family. 100′s of onlookers crowded St. Mawes by land and sea to watch Katherine Grainger and our Cornish Alison Glover and Annie Vernon perform among all the other wonderful GB and Cornish Gig Rowers. Of course I took a box of small pasties with me in case anyone on Marks boat got peckish. After everyone ate their fill we handed 7 pasties over to Mike Chenoweth on the media boat. Minutes later we were pleased to see olympian/commentator Iwan Thomas eating one!!!

U-turn on the Pasty Tax

The govt. has done a U-Turnip on the pasty tax! Oggy Oggy Oggy! Thank you Cornish MPs one and all. Thank you govt. for listening. Thanks to John Ault for ‘No to vat on the Cornish Pasty’ petition and a big hug for our ‘Kernow King’ for leading our Pasty Protest March! Tho’ he could have picked a better day!

Pasty Tax March

Atrocious weather conditions did not deter a huge swarm of ‘axe the pasty tax’ supporters marching from the ‘Moor’ to Event Square on Sunday April 29th. We were led by ‘Kernow King’ and ‘The Falmouth Marine Band‘. It was fantastic to see, even children battling the awful weather conditions dressed in black and gold or with pasty head-dresses and the like. Men in kilts, , placards galore and many many Cornish flags. The Deputy Grand Bard kicked off proceedings in Cornish Language at 2pm and off we went in the swirling wind and lashing rain. From where I was marching, ’round about the middle, I couldn’t hear the Maine Band, but bursts of ‘Oggy Oggy’ kept our spirits high. As we arrived at the square fresh squalls of sea spray hit our already drenched state. Oblivious to the cold and wetness Cornish maids danced without flinching. The ‘Aberfal’ singers sang, the politicians spoke, I got interviewed by the King, A young man(16) spoke of his disgust and the ‘Porthleven Dingy Club’ sang their rousing and funny anti- pasty tax song. When the protest was completely over the rain stopped. British weather for you, but it didn’t stop us! ps Cheers Skinners brewery, that glass of ‘Kernow King’ went down a treat. So nice to see your van/bar there in the square to quench our thirst.

Recently,The Lizard Pasty Shop had another visitation by Kernow King. He wanted help perfecting his top-crimping. As always , we were more than happy to help even tho” he can’t help bringing out his naughty humour!!!!!!!! Anyway,:-) we managed a good demonstration of pasty-making and what an example K.K. is growing his own turnip,onion and taties. Pur Dha Edward Rowe!

When I met Ade

Ade Edmondson,Yes , he who was Vivien of The Young One’s really did come into my li’l Cornish Pasty Shop. I still can’t believe that my favourite comedian ended up getting a pasty-making lesson from ME.
Ade was being filmed for a new series that will start in the Autumn; ‘Ade around Britain’. After the pasty making episode I may end up in prison!!!!!!! Ade helped me expose myself as a criminal. I SHOWED HIM TOP-CRIMPING and said I was still calling my pasties CORNISH.(The new P.G.I.status outlaws top-crimped pasties) Now if I get fined for top crimping and refuse pay, which is what I said I’d do, I suppose I will end up in prison. Anyway Ade will be coming to my aid. As he is a quick learner and keen cook and can now ad Illegal Cornish Pasty to his menu, he is going to make a pasty with a file in it to bring in to prison for me.;-) DON’T TELL ANYONE!
